Summary
During my internship at Star Vault I got the chance to work a lot inside the Unreal Engine 4 engine, where I came to appreciate it for a lot of it’s features. For a while I had wanted to make a soldier type of character with firearms and animate as a character inside UE4. After spending some time modelling the character I decided to alter it a bit, in an attempt to recreate one of my favorite fictional characters of all time “Boba Fett” from the “Star Wars” franchise.
For the design of the character I was inspired by the cancelled game by LucasArts “Star Wars: 1313”, which supposedly was going to star a younger version of the well known bounty hunter.
For the character’s weapons I chose to recreate some of my favorite weapons from the franchise:
“Bobba Fett’s” iconic EE3 carbine blaster (inspired by the “Webley No 1. Mark 1" flare gun.)
“Han Solo’s” DL44 blaster pistol (isnpired by the “Mauser C96" pistol.”)
“Thermal Detonator” frag grenade.
When I started to rig the character I decided to go with a similar skeletal structure which Epic has used for their own skeletons, since it was my intention to use the character as a player character inside the engine. Since I have rigged many human characters in the past the work was rather straightforward.
